About Us
Formed in 2024, the PowerSchool Policy Engagement & Education Research Center (PEER Center) conducts quantitative research on education topics, pursues independent studies of PowerSchool products, and partners with fellow education champions on strategic projects.
Our Mission
As education data experts, we help K-12 district and government leaders make efficient, effective, and fact-driven decisions for the communities they serve.
Project Highlights
Washington Special Education Spending Study
As part of a large evaluation of Washington's special education finance system, our team analyzed finance data for 295 districts. The study found that WA districts spend, on average, at least 26% more per student than they receive from state and federal sources.

National Study of Special Education Spending
We are collecting and analyzing K-12 finance data to create estimates on how districts spend money on special education. Our novel methodological approach and findings will help clarify funding needs for IDEA services.
